Casey and Zane started prepping in the middle of summer for their backpacking trip in the middle of August. The trip was with a bunch of other Dads and Sons from Crown Valley Youth Ranch. They hiked to Weaver Lake in the Jennie Lakes Wilderness and spent two nights at the lake. They got to make their own fires and cook their own food. They even caught a fish for dinner. It was a bit wet on the way out but they had a great time.

We had our annual Fall Festival at Hartland. It is a wonderful gathering of people who love Hartland and a fundraiser for camper scholarships. I have been in charge of games since we moved here. It's a lot of fun to come up with creative games that are played over 700 times!!!

The end of August marked the start of school. Zane started third grade. He loves to do any type of STEM project and listen to Mom read history. If he never had to read he would be the happiest student! I really enjoy the teaching and it is wonderful to work at our own pace and to really focus on the subjects he loves as well as reading. We also attended a back to school field trip where Zane got to see some fun reptiles and pet a few.

There was lots of time spent riding bikes with friends and Zane even made it to the top of Vertigo, a 70 foot multi-obstacle vertical climb.
