So proud of Zane, he finished second grade going strong. He excels in math and science. We had a great year learning about mammals from all around the world, medieval history and strengthening his reading skills. His new favorite car game is to think of math problems for Pop and I to figure out! For the end of school we did a hike to Pierce Pond with his friend Henry. With the crazy flooding we had this winter a large section of the meadow next to the pond is now a sand flat.

Can you see the fence posts? That's how deep the sand and silt is

With Zane growing like crazy, he needed a new bike. So with his help we were able to purchase his first official mountain bike.

Zane had about a day and half with his new bike before we headed up to Zac and Jens for a few days to ride all the amazing trails around Arnold. This kid is incredible, over about three days he did 20+ miles of trails. He had one spectacular crash, but managed to dust himself off and keep riding the trails.

After the crash, he thought it was pretty great that he bent his handle bars so much

On one of the days we drove up Hwy. 4 to Bear Valley Ski Resort. There was this awesome section of granite that everyone rode on. It was a little tricky getting up there, had to carry the bikes over some snow drifts.

It doesn't look steep, but see how far Casey is behind his seat!!! This keeps you from going over the handle bars

When we drove up to the ski resort, we went a little further to check out Lake Alpine. It still had ice on it and snow all around. The wind was howling and it made for a very brief chilly stop.

Hope you enjoyed the plethora of mountain biking pictures. I had a great time playing photographer for the weekend. Next up is a visit from Nana and Grandpa.
