August found us spending time in the mountains riding bikes and getting a tour of Hume Lake Christian Camp. I drove Casey and Zane up the road to the National Park Boundary and they rode over 7.5 miles home.
We were blessed to get a behind the scenes tour of Hume Lake Christian Camp by a wonderful lady that has lived and worked at Hume for 25+ years and she grew up coming to her family's cabin as a child. She had great stories to tell and it was fun to see one of the three mega-camps in California. At full capacity in summer Hume can hold over 2000 guests!!
Zane and I spent a morning at a small adventure park in Fresno. Zane had fun on the rides and the ropes course.
Zane started Second grade this month. We decided to drive up the road a few miles and have the first day of school at the base of a giant Sequoia tree. Zane loved it and asked if we could do that every day!
Later in the week Zane got to break open a geode for school.
The last weekend of the month was Hartland's Fall Festival. I was in charge of the kids games and Zane was a great helper.
The charter school that we belong to had their back to school fun day. Zane had fun playing the carnival games.
The summer camp season will come to a close this nest weekend with the Labor Day Homeschool Family Camp. But Hartland has a busy fall season coming up with guest and school groups. Coming up in September, Zane and I head out on a road trip and Casey will join us for a week in Idaho. Check back next month to see our adventures.
