Pheasant Hunt, China Peak and other January fun

At the beginning of January, Casey and Zane headed to a youth pheasant hunt.  They paired the kids up with dogs and handlers and did a large release of pheasants so it was a great opportunity for the kids to have a successful hunt.

Next we headed to China Peak for a skiing and snowboarding field trip.  This is a great opportunity for us to hit the slopes through our Charter school(aka makes it affordable).

This next picture I have to share, because some of you know the long, struggling journey that Zane and I have been on with reading.  He excels with all of his school subjects but reading.  He has always loved the Little Critter books which lead me to purchasing every Little Critter early reader book that has ever been published; there are a lot of them!!  In the last few days he has been reading 3-7 a day and doesn't want to stop.  I think we are finally having a breakthrough!!  Right after I took this picture he jumped up and said "I love reading", he quickly rescinded that statement, but still had a smile on his face.

At the end of January, we celebrated Callie's 3rd year with us.  It has been amazing to see her go from complete scaredy cat and wanting nothing to do with us to now where she will jump up on the couch with Zane.

That wraps up the month of January.  See you next month.
