The beginning of September was fairly quiet. Zane and I spent a lot of time with school to get ahead for our road trip. We spent almost 4 weeks on the road going through 7 states, 3 National Parks and visiting lots of friends and family. Casey flew in to Idaho to join us for the last week. Get ready for lots of photos of all the fun we had.
Day one had us driving about 12 hours, the longest drive day for the whole trip. We made sure to run around and climb all the trees at every rest stop along the way. One rest stop was next door to the helipad for one of the wildfires in California so we watched a bunch of helicopters come in and out for water.
Next was an afternoon with my Aunt and Uncle. Auntie Dee even kept her pool ready for Zane even though the weather was cooling. It was a chilly pool day and Zane didn't last as long as Auntie Dee in the pool. I enjoyed a nice lawn chair with my sweatshirt on.
On our way into Washington we made a stop at Cascades and got to take some horses out for a ride.
Next we spent a few days with Rowanne(and her amazing parents who housed us) in Olympia. We visited her horse Echo, spent an afternoon at NW Trek and Zane made a great friend with her dog, Oakley. We also went to Emerald Downs and met up with some of my wranglers from Cascades.
Then we were off to spend a day with the wonderful Michael and Sandy. Zane got to learn all about urban gardening. He ate endless amounts of blueberries and tomatoes from the garden. He also got to make applesauce starting with picking the apples, cutting them up, processing them and we came home with a few jars of applesauce.
Next I had a surprise for Zane. I took him to the Puyallup Fair, I have so many great memories from this fair and I wanted to share it with Zane. He had no idea we were going until we parked. He had a great time and even road the big wooden roller coaster, he was barely tall enough and had a great time.
That's the end of Part 1 of the big trip, stayed tuned for lots more great pictures and fun adventures.
