June Fun

The first week of June had Zane finishing up his year as a Kindergartner.  He did great for his first year of school and even Mom survived being his teacher.  In three of his subjects, Social Studies, Science and Math he got "grades" of Exceeding Expectations.  And in Language Arts he got a Meets Expectations.  So proud of him!!

The next week we had a utility crew come work on the power pole right next to our house.  They were laying another ground wire(PG&E's trying to reduce the chance of another power pole starting a forest fire).  Zane was so excited to watch them.  The crew was super friendly and offered to take Zane up in one of the buckets.  He had a blast going up so high and they even let him run the controllers.

Going up, he was so short you could hardly see his hat

Waving from way up high

He even got to try on the protective gear

Then we headed up to Arnold, CA where my brother and his family just bought a cabin.  It's a really cute place that has a lot of potential, which translates to it needs a lot of work at the moment.  So we got to help tear out all of the flooring, it was old vinyl tiles put down with tar.  Zane was a great helper removing the tiles and raking pine needles all around there house.  My parents were also there so we got to have some fun family time with all the work.  We even saw a bear walk down the road next to the cabin.  We spent some time seeing some giant Sequoias nearby, swimming in a river and mountain biking.

At the end of the month, one of the groups at Hartland had some of the Visalia police up to do a K9 demo.  Zane loved watching the dog work and got to try on the heavy jacket that they use to train the dogs.

Trying on the jacket, it was super thick and heavy

The summer has been really good so far.  It is so great to hear campers at Hartland.  We have had full weeks so far(50% capacity which are our current covid limits) Zane and Mom have been getting lots of pool time and Zane is learning how to swim this summer.  Hope you all are having a great summer.
