Getting pulled by Mom as we walk through Hartland
Fun on the sled run
On Easter weekend we enjoyed a hike that wandered through Sequoia National Forest right next to Hartland. The wild flowers are starting to bloom all around us. We also decorated eggs and Zane had a great time hunting for eggs on Easter morning. Leading up to Easter we did Resurrection Eggs with Zane, he really enjoys these and learns all about the story of Jesus starting at Palm Sunday through the crucifixion and resurrection. The last egg which is opened on on Easter morning is empty!! He is Risen!!

For the whole month of April Zane and I have been involved in a Hike it Baby Challenge. It encourages you to spend time outside and hike and walk. At the beginning of the month Zane wanted to set a goal of 60 miles. We did great: Zane hiked 63 miles, Mom hiked 80 miles, Zane biked 31.5 miles and Zane spent 135 hours outside!!! Here are some pictures from the month of hiking and spending time outdoors.

We finally got some much warmer weather in the second half of April. One evening we packed up dinner and drove up through the National Forest to Hume Lake and had a picnic dinner. It was a beautiful drive and we even took the top off the jeep. It was a little cold at the top of the ridge, there was still snow on the ground.

For another adventure we headed to Pierce Pond, also located in the Sequoia National Forest and with in hiking distance from home. The pond is at one end of a large meadow and we decided to hike all the way around the meadow. It was beautiful with lots of flowers blooming and lots of wet soggy ground for Zane to play in, fun trees to climb in and a creek to cross.

Twice in the last month Casey has taken Zane to go mountain biking. Zane got to ride on real single track trails and loved every minute of it. His favorite part was when Casey crashed into the bushes and he just kept riding and didn't crash.
I think his face says it all!!
We pray that you are all staying safe and healthy through this time. We are so thankful that we live where we do and have so many places to explore where there are no other people around.
